Next Step

There is another family in town that is raising a service dog with Canine Companions like we hope to do!  They were tasked with coming to our house to see if there were any concerns that would make our home unsuitable for a puppy.

Good news - we passed the test!

Better news - they brought their one-year-old beautiful, smart, well-trained future service dog named Resa! We were in awe of how she stayed by her handler while we all chatted.  Afterward, she was quite happy to hear the command to let her know she could run around in our yard like crazy! We were happy to donate a toy football to the cause - she destroyed it in 2 minutes! Julia and Ellie were very glad to see a dog in our house!💙

And the Best news - we are on track to receive a puppy mid-July!  We have some preparing to do!  Let the fun begin!

A year later, we'll be in these people's shoes...Reuniting with the puppy you raised after it completes professional training.

(The harness Resa is wearing that is requried for puppy raisers to use: Gentle Leader.)
